Holiday Gathering
Avoid gatherings! They increase your chance of getting or spreading COVID-19.
Good health should be simple: it should be simple for you to find doctors who can give you and your family the care you need when you don’t feel well…or better yet, when you’re healthy and want to stay that way. And it should be simple for you to find care that’s close to home, from doctors who speak your language and understand what’s important to you.
AltaMed health centers put everything you need, in one place—doctors, tests, treatments, and medicines. We have bilingual health care professionals in your neighborhood. In fact, many of our doctors live in the communities they serve. We’re dedicated to helping individuals and families get the right care they need to grow healthy.
We encourage our patients to start a relationship with a primary care doctor who can get to know you and your health needs and give you regular checkups and screenings. These doctors can also help you make simple changes to keep you healthy or refer you to a specialist for additional care.
AltaMed offers personalized, 360-degree care including testing and diagnostics, as well as treatment. With compassionate doctors and case management services for those who qualify, our goal is to make it easier to manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease—so you can continue to live a long and healthy life.
Primary care doctors give routine physicals and immunizations, treat injury and illness, and can refer you to a specialist.
A primary care doctor treats all the adult members in your family, and they are knowledgeable about a wide variety of medical concerns. Besides giving you immunizations and routine screenings (like blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, blood sugar), they can help you manage chronic, or ongoing conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart problems, arthritis, and high blood pressure. Even if your health is good, overall, a primary care doctor can help you lose weight, reduce stress, become more active, and achieve other health goals.
Sometimes, an illness or injury may require more specialized care from another kind of doctor, or even a whole medical team. A primary care doctor should still be your first contact. They can order tests, refer you to specialists, help plan your care, and get you back on the road to being healthy.

Your teeth are part of your overall health, which is why many AltaMed Health Centers have dental offices right in the same building.
Everyone wants a bright, shiny smile, but did you know the health of your teeth and mouth are important to the rest of your body? Besides causing you pain, tooth problems such as cavities and bleeding gums may be linked to heart attacks. If you already have a condition such as diabetes, anemia, HIV/AIDS, or cancer, your risk for oral infections, tooth decay, and gum disease is higher.
AltaMed can help make dental exams and treatments part of your healthy habits. We want you and your entire family to keep your teeth as long as possible, which is why we provide many preventive services, including full dental exams with digital X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and oral health education.

Seeing your child smile is a great feeling. Keeping that smile healthy can take some work. Children’s dental health can be easy to overlook, but the truth is it’s essential to their overall wellbeing.
We can help guide independent older adults and caregivers to a variety of healthy aging services.
As we age, we all have different health care needs. No matter how healthy you are, you can’t get away from aging! But you can stay well, and get the right care to help you maintain a healthy life.
AltaMed has doctors who specialize in helping you age well. They’re called geriatric physicians, and they’re trained in the aging process. They focus on some of the risks older adults face, including osteoporosis, heart disease, and sleep disorders. Our geriatric specialists can also refer you or a loved one to other services that promote health and self-sufficiency.

Even though COVID-19 has been our nation’s most pressing health concern for the past three months, breast cancer, cervical cancer, heart disease, and diabetes still threaten the health of our communities. Hopefully, you’ve been taking care of yourself, eating right, finding ways to exercise, and taking care of your mental health, but if you’re like most people, you’ve probably let your routine visits to the doctor slide.
Moms, moms-to-be, and babies need a little extra support! AltaMed is the place for all their health care needs.
At AltaMed, we love mothers and their babies – even before they’re born! We provide moms-to-be, wannabe moms, and new mothers with specialized care so they’re in the best health, and can pass that good health along to baby.
We offer a variety of family planning services, including Well-Woman office visits, and more. And our pediatricians can care for your baby until he or she is fully grown, including giving age-appropriate immunizations and screenings.
For your health convenience, we are pleased to offer a Drive-Up Immunization clinic for well children at:

AltaMed pediatric patients, regardless of where they live or where their clinic is located, can get their vaccinations to keep them well, such as mumps, measles, HPV, and the flu. An outdoor, drive up clinic allows children who are well to avoid exposure to those who may be sick in our medical offices. For information, or to make an appointment call (888) 499-9303. Once you have an appointment, don’t forget to bring your child’s immunization records with you.

Routine tests like cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes checks are essential for a long, healthy life.
Even healthy adults need regular health screenings. From your head to your toes, and at every age and stage, we meet the screening and immunization guidelines put forth by the agencies that include the U.S. Preventive Services Taskforce, the American Diabetes Association, and the Centers for Disease Control.
If you’re healthy, we’ll try to keep you that way with regular screenings of your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, teeth, eyes, and weight; if you’re a woman, that also includes Pap smears and mammograms. If you are at increased risk for, or have, common conditions like diabetes or hypertension, you’ll need a few more tests to help make sure you’re moving in the right direction.

As a woman, it’s important to take care of your behavioral health. Women are much more likely to suffer from major depression, anxiety, and the negative effects of stress. And no matter if the cause is physical, mental, or emotional, we want you to feel comfortable and confident to seek out treatment.
For some people, these feelings may be temporary and quickly resolved with counseling or peer support groups. Others may require more focused treatment and even medication to help them feel better. We’re dedicated to connecting you with the right care: compassionate, personalized, and confidential. Remember, you are not alone.
