Primary Care
A primary care doctor treats all the adult members in your family, and they are knowledgeable about a wide variety of medical concerns. Besides giving you immunizations and routine screenings (like blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, blood sugar), they can help you manage chronic, or ongoing conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart problems, arthritis, and high blood pressure. Even if your health is good, overall, a primary care doctor can help you lose weight, reduce stress, become more active, and achieve other health goals.
Sometimes, an illness or injury may require more specialized care from another kind of doctor, or even a whole medical team. A primary care doctor should still be your first contact. They can order tests, refer you to specialists, help plan your care, and get you back on the road to being healthy.

Let’s Get Back on Track for Women’s Health Care

Even though COVID-19 has been our nation’s most pressing health concern for the past three months, breast cancer, cervical cancer, heart disease, and diabetes still threaten the health of our communities. Hopefully, you’ve been taking care of yourself, eating right, finding ways to exercise, and taking care of your mental health, but if you’re like most people, you’ve probably let your routine visits to the doctor slide.
Healthy habits start early with screenings, immunizations, and more from a friendly AltaMed physician.
Pediatrics
At AltaMed, we love mothers and their babies – even before they’re born! We provide moms-to-be, wannabe moms, and new mothers with specialized care so they’re in the best health, and can pass that good health along to baby.
We offer a variety of family planning services, including Well-Woman office visits, and more. And our pediatricians can care for your baby until he or she is fully grown, including giving age-appropriate immunizations and screenings.
AltaMed Drive-Up Immunization Clinic at CHLA
For your health convenience, we are pleased to offer a Drive-Up Immunization clinic for well children at:
AltaMed General Pediatrics — Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA)
4650 West Sunset Blvd.,
Los Angeles, CA 90027 - Main Entrance
AltaMed pediatric patients, regardless of where they live or where their clinic is located, can get their vaccinations to keep them well, such as mumps, measles, HPV, and the flu. An outdoor, drive up clinic allows children who are well to avoid exposure to those who may be sick in our medical offices. For information, or to make an appointment call (888) 499-9303. Once you have an appointment, don’t forget to bring your child’s immunization records with you.

In addition to medical care, we can also help seniors access additional community resources.
Senior Services
Senior Care
We understand that, in health care, one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why we provide specialized senior care at several of our medical centers. From primary care to chronic disease treatment, we’re committed to providing superior care for the senior in your family.
Our primary goal is to maintain seniors' well-being and independence at home and in their community, for as long as possible.
One of the great options we offer for older adults with chronic conditions is our Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). In this program, our team provides:
- Appointment coordination with doctors, specialists, and physical therapists
- Patient transportation
- Nutritional meals
We also offer Care Management Programs for frail and functionally impaired adults, which include:
- Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP)
- Integrated Care Management Program (ICMP)

Make your teeth last a lifetime. Start with proper oral hygiene and regular AltaMed dental appointments.
Dentistry
Everyone wants a bright, shiny smile, but did you know the health of your teeth and mouth are important to the rest of your body? Besides causing you pain, tooth problems such as cavities and bleeding gums may be linked to heart attacks. If you already have a condition such as diabetes, anemia, HIV/AIDS, or cancer, your risk for oral infections, tooth decay, and gum disease is higher.
AltaMed can help make dental exams and treatments part of your healthy habits. We want you and your entire family to keep your teeth as long as possible, which is why we provide many preventive services, including full dental exams with digital X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and oral health education.

Keeping Your Child’s Smile Healthy

Seeing your child smile is a great feeling. Keeping that smile healthy can take some work. Children’s dental health can be easy to overlook, but the truth is it’s essential to their overall wellbeing.
AltaMed provides whole-person health care for conditions like depression, anxiety, and substance abuse.
Behavioral Health
As a woman, it’s important to take care of your behavioral health. Women are much more likely to suffer from major depression, anxiety, and the negative effects of stress. And no matter if the cause is physical, mental, or emotional, we want you to feel comfortable and confident to seek out treatment.
For some people, these feelings may be temporary and quickly resolved with counseling or peer support groups. Others may require more focused treatment and even medication to help them feel better. We’re dedicated to connecting you with the right care: compassionate, personalized, and confidential. Remember, you are not alone.

Get to the Heart of Heart Disease

We can fill, warm, break, change and give our hearts, but perhaps the most important role of a heart to have is to be a healthy and it’s up to us to make sure it is. Heart disease is the number one cause of death for both men and women in the United States, with one in four deaths caused by heart disease.
A welcoming community setting for seniors to get care that can help keep them healthy and independent at home.
AltaMed PACE
AltaMed PACE is the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. It was created for seniors who are managing multiple health conditions who need just a little extra help but aren’t ready for assisted living.
With AltaMed PACE, seniors are picked up at their homes and transported in style – you’ve probably seen the vans in your neighborhood! A few days a week, seniors visit a community-focused center where they get medical care and meals and can participate in social activities. Best of all, AltaMed PACE visits and services may be covered by Medicare.

The Services to Help You Grow Healthy and the Protection to Keep You Safe

For the past 50 years, our top priority has been helping our patients grow healthy. Our locations remain open and safe to support you and your family’s health needs.
Integrated pharmacy services are convenient and help make sure you are always getting the right care.
Pharmacy
If you have complex health conditions, you may be taking a number of medications. It’s easy to lose track. And then what happens if you’re down to your last pill, but can’t find a ride to the pharmacy?
Having your medications available to you at the PACE center makes it easy to stay compliant with your medications. When all of your medications are in one place, a pharmacist can watch for potential drug interactions, which helps keep you safe. Plus, we’ll remind you when you’re due for a refill.
And now, instead of going to the pharmacy and standing in a long line, you can pick your medications up when you’re at your local PACE center.
