What You Need to Know About Coronavirus

Do you need to schedule an appointment for your COVID-19 symptoms?

In partnership with Keck Medicine of USC, one of the nation’s leading health centers, we are offering a COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool. Answer a few simple questions to help you determine if you should seek medical care, based on the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). If you have any questions, please call our Patient Service Center at (888) 499-9303. It is important to call us before you come into a medical office or urgent care site.

How to Care for COVID-19 Symptoms  

The CDC currently associates the following symptoms with COVID-19: 

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell 

Whether you are a current AltaMed patient or have not been seen at AltaMed before, it is important to call us first. Your care options include talking to a provider via a telephone or video visit or, you may be directed to one of our outdoor evaluation and testing centers. Call our Patient Service Center at (888) 499-9303 for assistance.

Protecting Others If You Are Diagnosed

If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, let anyone who has been around you within the 48 hours before your illness know that they too need to quarantine themselves for 14 days after their last contact with you. Los Angeles County residents may also call our Patient Service Center to schedule a COVID-19 test.  

Follow these guidelines until your symptoms go away and you have not taken or needed any medication for 72 hours and it has been at least 10 days since the start of your symptoms.

If you have a scheduled appointment, or would like to see a doctor, call our Patient Service Center at (888) 499-9303 so that we can assess your needs, offer you a telephone appointment, or direct you to the best location for care (in some cases, it may not be at your regular location).

Whenever possible, we try to keep our patients out of waiting rooms to avoid unnecessary exposure to other sick patients, but if you require regular care due to diabetes, high blood pressure, pregnancy, or another condition, we want to make sure you continue to receive the medical care you need.   

AltaMed Drive-Up Immunization Clinic at CHLA

For your peace of mind, we are pleased to offer a Drive-Up Immunization clinic for well children at:

AltaMed pediatric patients, regardless of where they live or where their clinic is located, can stay on schedule with critical vaccinations, such as mumps, measles, HPV, and the flu. An outdoor, drive-up clinic allows children who are well to avoid exposure to those who may be sick in our medical offices. For information, or to make an appointment call (888) 499-9303. Once you have an appointment, don’t forget to bring your child’s immunization records with you.

This clinic is made available through our partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).

Keeping Our Sites Safe and Clean

We follow all of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for keeping our areas safe and clean and have procedures in place to maintain them.

  • We are regularly disinfecting all surfaces and cleaning waiting rooms.
  • We are utilizing appropriate protective equipment as indicated by the CDC.
  • We will ask you to wear a mask if you come into one of our sites with fever or respiratory symptoms.
