Here’s some good news about HIV/AIDS: science has made real progress toward creating a cure and a vaccine – we don’t have these treatments yet, but scientists and doctors are very optimistic. That’s in addition to proven therapies that can reduce the risk of contracting HIV and treatment to help those with HIV or AIDS live long, healthy lives.
Health Education
We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to talk about your sexual health. AltaMed’s individual sessions and educational groups focus on raising awareness, creating empowerment, and building leadership. We provide a supportive and friendly environment where you can feel comfortable to be yourself – and know that your voice can help others.

BOYS (Bettering Our Youth Socially) - Connect offline, learn how to play safe, and create a fun space to hang out.
FRESH (Fun, Responsible, Educated, Safe Hombres) - Use your natural talents to create a healthier community.
My Voice (Live Positively) - Learn new skills to help you share your status on your own terms.
Monthly Drop-in Group: Connect virtually, with your camera on or off, and support others living with HIV.
YAAS (Young Advocates for Action and Sustainability): Explore gender, manhood, and community while building self-esteem and leadership skills in a safe and supportive space. YAAS is for Latinx and African American males ages 15-29.
YAB (Youth Advisory Board): Interested in working on issues that affect the HIV+ community? Join the YAB and help craft solutions to community issues, help plan and participate in outreach events and educational workshops.
TEA (Together Everyone Acts): Become part of a Peer Network for Young Men that have Sex with Men (YMSM) where you can talk and learn about safer sex practices through events and one-on-one connections.
Queer Corner (Falls under TEA): Join our monthly chats or events so you can connect with other LGBTQ youth, 21 and under, in a judgment free and resource rich space. You can drop-in whenever you want, and participate in whatever way is comfortable for you.
Community Promise: If you are living with HIV and are also part of the indigenous Oaxacan, Central American/Salvadoran Latinx, Latinx Queer Punk or Latinx Vaquero Cowboy communities, you can join our 5 week counseling program. Not only will you receive help with care, but you can become an educator in your community and connect others to services.
Stay Ready Pack: The Stay Ready Pack is a free monthly subscription based program that provides condoms and lubricants mailed directly to your door in discreet packaging. There are four different packs to choose from, andsigning up is easy. Your information remains confidential.
