| The Division
of Government Relations conducts research
and analysis of legislation at the federal, state and local
government levels. In addition, this division analyzes
health policy issues and regulations
that impact upon AltaMed and our patients/participants and clients.
The goals of this division are to:
- Empower patients/participants/clients and staff to advocate
for strong and healthy communities.
- Monitor public policy, provide analysis and advocate for
views adopted by the Board of Directors of AltaMed.
- Coordinate quarterly briefings with legislators and their
staffs to discuss current issues in health.
- Network with other social and health care organizations
to promote wellness for individuals, their families and their
children.
- Plan AltaMed site visits and educational forums with elected
and appointed officials from the federal, state and local
governments to maintain a dialogue on health and social services
needs within medically underserved areas.
- Encourage AltaMed staff to actively participate in civic
activities that promote citizenship, adult education and the
importance of voting.
