Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives

AltaMed recognizes that creating a Healthy Community takes each and every one of us. The Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives initiative was started for this reason. Longstanding partners like YMCA, the Los Angeles Department for Public Health, 211.org, Superior Grocers and community restaurants have combined efforts and leveraged our relationships to:

  • Increase availability of healthy foods through grocers and restaurants
  • Increase accessibility of healthy community events and opportunities for physical activity
  • Increase referrals for community based resources to reduce and prevent chronic diseases
