AltaMed
Health Services has been providing quality health care to the
underserved and uninsured in Southern California for more than
35 years. It has long been our goal to be a beacon of hope for
minorities and economically disadvantaged communities. To that
end, we regularly serve more than 48,000 families each year,
providing community access to medical and dental clinics, complete
senior services, including adult day health care centers, case
management, and the Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly
(PACE), youth programs as well as HIV/AIDS and substance abuse
prevention and treatment.
We
promote a comprehensive continuum of care, assisting individuals
and their families from birth through the senior years, regardless
of ability to pay. This has led to an integrated system of care
that emphasizes early education and prevention, and an individual’s
total health. We believe this is the best way to help alleviate
unnecessary trips to already overextended emergency rooms, thus
also reducing the total cost of providing care to the uninsured.
As a Federally Qualified Community Health Center, this is one
of the most important contributions we make to our health care
system.
This
is also why our approach will always be “patient-focused,”
with the patient and their families remaining at the center
of our care team that consists of motivated and dedicated professionals
whose sole mission is to help those in need. Each member of
our staff is committed to a personalized professional approach
to health. Our success is built on continuing the honest and
cooperative relationships we’ve developed with patients,
families, employers and other health partners. As part of the
community that we serve, we understand the inner strength that
comes from health.
We
believe that good health is good business, and that both lead
to an improved quality of life.
By
promoting health as well as economic and community development,
AltaMed has become one of the largest employers in Los Angeles
with over 900 employees. The majority of our staff is bilingual,
speaking Spanish/English, Cantonese/English or Mandarin/English.
